I’ve always been proud of my health. I rarely take a sick day, and most of my family has smooth sailing until about the age of eighty. Enter Dr. Summerlin, my OB/GYN who wanted me to have a colonoscopy last November. NO WAY! Nobody is doing that to me. I agreed to Cologard, and my first postcard from them was an “all clear” but later they sent my doctor a notice that there was something wrong. She put me in touch with Dr. Rinker, and I did the colonoscopy begrudgingly. I didn’t need this. I’m WAY under 80. But Dr. Rinker found a large, cancerous polyp. Enter Dr. Bailey, the surgeon. He removed the cancer as well as 16 lymph nodes surrounding it. Thank the Lord (and yes, they prayer team was extensive) the cancer was contained. But I learned my lesson. When the doctor says to do a certain test, my pride can just take a back seat. I am so thankful to be on my way to recovery, and the most tumultuous week of my life is over. I am so thankful for the doctors who were more stubborn than I am. I’m thankful for great friends and family that prayed their hearts out for me. I also pray for those who are fighting cancer, and for strength and comfort for their families. My story has a happy ending so far, and I learned a valuable lesson. Thanks for reading this, and listen to your doctor. š

I am a mom, a teacher, a student and a lover of the written word, especially God's Word--which is why my first two books were devotionals. Wisdom is in short supply in so much of our world, so I go right to the top. If you like my posts, check out my books on Amazon.com (Fran Driscoll/Roberts). If there's such a thing as a clean murder mystery with a little romance, that's what you'll get. "A Place Called Grace" starts with an abused 4 year old escaping with her grandma to Mississippi. But "step-dad" Cullen Beal has been making money from Sheanna's innocent beauty, so he's on their trail. "A Place Without Mercy" ends Cullen's reign of terror, but at a terrible cost. The third, stand-alone book in the series is āA Broken Place,ā which begins with a chance meeting in Puerto Rico and ends in a stand-off in New Orleans. Of course, I have a couple of new stories in the works, so there's more of Leah and Sheanna coming. If you see anything really unique that you think would make a great story, let me know. I love to collect stories as much as read and write them. View all posts by fdriscoll7
